Children participate in the musical elements during weekly classes and attempt to repeat songs, play instruments, or re-enact songs or stories outside of class.
We were able to complete 16 of our planned 24 sessions before canceling remaining classes due to COVID-19. Response from families to the classes was extremely positive, and about 3/4 of respondents indicated their their children "often" or "sometimes" repeated songs and activities that they learned in class. The response of the Russian-speaking community was particularly gratifying, as this was a community that we had reached successfully with the Readmobile and now were able to welcome into the library for programs. Our Russian-speaking outreach aide was particularly helpful in inviting families and making them feel welcome. Only two Sensory-Friendly classes were held before shut-down, but they were extremely popular, with attendance well beyond the 10-child registration limit.
