James Hersch will conduct a 4-day collaborative songwriting workshop for children grades 3 - 5. The group will compose, arrange and record original music. 50 copies of the CD will be made for the library to distribute.

The program will provide opportunity for artistic expression through music and demonstrate the role of arts in the public library. The program will also increase access for school-aged youth to play musical instruments and participate in performing arts.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The program provided school-age participants free (affordable) opportunities to learn how to play musical instruments, participate in the performing arts, and interact with a working artist in their community. The program also increased youth's exposure to the professional performing arts.
