Teaching Artists from Stepping Stone Theatre will present "Build Your Skills" workshops on shadow puppetry and children at the Park Grove library will spend a morning at the library to create a "Play in a Day".

Build Your Skills: Students will develop agency and practice technique in skill-based, workshop-style classes. Lead by specialized Teaching Artists, these process-driven programs are designed to introduce students to skills and concepts in an introductory, age-appropriate, student-centric, collaborative style.
Play in a Day: Participants will create and perform an original play in just one day! ,students will work collaboratively with their peers on developing the story, setting, characters, dialogue, and staging. Teaching Artists will help students gain an understanding of theatre by exploring concepts like idea contribution, ensemble work, story structure, character choices, and theatre vocabulary. Throughout the process-driven creative class experience, students will engage in theatre games and activities that hone artistic skills before performing their play for family and friends.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Children were introduced to the skills and concepts on shadow puppetry while practicing art techniques during the collaborate Build Your Skills Shadow Puppetry workshop.
Children enjoyed a day at the library where they created and performed an original play while gaining an understanding of theatre concepts like idea contribution, ensemble work, story structure, character choices, staging, and theatre vocabulary.
