Project Overview
Author Lizzie Ehrenhalt will discuss the story of Rose Cleveland, sister of President Grover Cleveland, and her relationship with Evangeline Simpson, a wealthy widow who would become the second wife of Henry Whipple, Minnesota's Episcopal bishop. Ehrenhalt's recently published collection of letters between the two women provides a rare portrayal of nineteenth-century LGBTQ history.
