Project Overview

Saint Paul Public Library is teaming up with the League of Women Voters to host Saint Paul-itics ice cream socials that will include live music, activities for all ages and free ice cream. SPPL is providing cultural entertainers to draw in a crowd. They will include two performances by Shai Hayo and the Salsa Del Soul Latin Jazz Trio.

Guests will engage with their local communities, experience music from other cultures, meet elected officials and join in other fun, summer activities with members of their communities. Live music will entertain guests and provide a fun atmosphere for the events.

Measurable Outcome(s)

This was an extremely successful collaboration between the library and the League of Women Voters. Guests stated that they enjoyed the live music, experiencing the music and traditions of other cultures, and gathering with neighbors in conversation around voter issues. They also noted the opportunity to meet elected officials, practice filling out a ballot properly, and civics education as highlights.
