The program will provide opportunities for participation and artistic expression by the public. The program will demonstrate the role of the arts in the public library.
The first year of the Poet Laureate program saw outcomes in the form of public exposure to literary arts and poetry, as well as ample opportunities to gain skills in artistic expression. Workshops were held to develop spoken word pieces, share community stories, write poetry, and read poetry. The public gained exposure to additional writers and poets living and working in their communities through the poet laureate program, and through workshops and events that were coordinated by Michael Kleber-Diggs.
