Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants will spend more time reading over the summer than they would have without the program. Site leaders will have literary resources to share with participants in their programs.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Offsite Summer Reading Program reached nearly 2400 children with reading programs and books to borrow at 13 partner sites during the summer of 2018. Children at 9 summer school and school child care sites engaged with stories and reading activities presented by a librarian during 32 visits. 85% of evaluations returned from these partner sites reported that their students read more over the summer than they would have without the program.

The other four sites were three manufactured home communities and the Community Action Partnership, and were visited weekly by Scott County's Readmobile. These visits reached 500 kids and families with read-alouds, creative activities, and books to borrow. Spanish-speaking families primarily visited the Readmobile at the three manufactured home communities, so Spanish-speaking outreach aides and specialists read books in Spanish and led culturally relevant activities.
