Scott County Historical Society Summer Library Programs 2019
SCHS will present 14 programs in the library branches. 7 programs are drop-in programs that present the history of games and toys as related to children of the past from both European American and Dakota cultures in Minnesota, plus a related hands-on project. 7 programs are one hour mini-camps with a more interactive experience of games and toys and their history in Minnesota.

Participants will use their personal experience to relate to Minnesota children of the past from both European American and Dakota cultures through hands-on toy making, contrasting their lives with the lives of children in the past, and playing historic games.
208 elementary-age children and their families interacted with Scott County Historical Society to expand their knowledge of and interest in the role of toys and games in Minnesota History. 115 children and caregivers engaged in a drop-in craft project and 93 children ages 9-12 attended a more in-depth 60-minute mini-camp. These events helped children connect to and understand the games and toys that Minnesota children of the past enjoyed.
