Echo: A series spoken word workshops celebrating urban storytelling.

Rising Artists: program teaching music recording/production skills.

Film showing: Film Screening of "Milwaukee 53206," a film about a segregated community in Milwaukee that has an extreme level of mass incarceration, followed by a discussion of the culture of mass incarceration and the community that is trying to support those leaving a facility in Minneapolis 55411 (North Minneapolis). The parallels of Milwaukee and Minneapolis were discussed

Echo: Patrons will receive encouragement in their own writing. Patrons will interact with performers and writers from the Minneapolis community.

Rising Artists: Participants will create audio projects. Participants will work in the music studio with a professional engineer. Participants will have opportunity to interact with another music performer or creator from the Minneapolis community.

Film showing: Patrons will have an opportunity to interact with guest authors and film makers.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Echo: 100% of participants felt encouraged in their writing and interacted with other performers and writers from Minneapolis.

Rising Artists: Participants created audio projects and worked with a professional music artist. Participants interacted with another music performer or music creator from Minneapolis.

Film showing: 84% of participants interacted with guest authors and film/filmmakers. Comments included: "I learned about new perspectives" and "Makes me want to learn more about my community"
