Project Overview

Program description: COMPAS Teaching Artist Marie Olofsdotter will lead a virtual, pre-recorded workshop on visionary poetry. Inspired by several poets, participants will learn to write their own heartfelt, visionary poem(s). After viewing the workshop, participants will have the option to ask Marie questions via email. This video will be available to view on www.sppl.org for two weeks, beginning Friday, April 24.

Expected program outcomes: Participants (I.e. viewers) will practice the art of poetry after studying the work of professional poets. This arts and cultural program will promote self expression, creativity, and potential connections between poetry enthusiasts.

Measurable Outcome(s)

After viewing the training, participants reported having a new and/or renewed interest in writing and reading poetry. The guided process helped participants learn how to best structure poems and stir ideas for future poems.
