LitKnit: Participants learn or enhance knitting skills. Participants share literature and revitalize the tradition of storytelling through oral reading.

Work of Art: Participants develop skills to further their artistic career. Participants identify resources to support their artistic career.

Measurable Outcome(s)

ArtStart: Participants learned something new about making art: New Mexican weaving technique based on ancient traditions; new painting and marbling techniques; technique, mixing color, relaxing, history of beading; make beautiful papers with suminagashi.

LitKnit: Participants learned new knitting and crafting skills and shared storytelling. Comments include: "Love the class. My first time knitting. Very easy going" and "Wonderful class. Very patient as they teach. Love listening to books. Probably a book I would not have chosen on my own."

Minneapolis Central Craft Club: Patrons created a variety of hands-on crafts, including tassels, pom-poms, sewing tote bags, cold weather accessories. Participant shared how art helps her fight depression and bond over crafting with her autistic son. Another participant shared she is using her skills to start a nonprofit to teach Somali women how to sew.

Work of Art: Participants learned something new about art as a career, including: structuring brand content like a magazine, new tools for social marketing, getting corporate sponsorship, collaborating with communities and creating an art business plan. Participants will use their new learned skills to further their art career by: creating a social media marketing plan, researching funding, plan projects, etc.
