Luchadora Screen Printed Posters
ReadyGoArt artist, Jessica Lopez Lyman, will bring a paleta cart with supplies to lead participants in creating Luchadora screen printed posters.
The paleta cart is an important Mexican/Chicanx cultural tool, where vendors walk around the neighborhood pushing the cart and selling popsicles. For many people, the paleta cart is a nostalgic symbol reminding them of their childhood. La Luchadora is a paleta-inspired, mobile screen printing cart. The cart is staffed usually by La Profesora Luchadora, a justice fighter, who teaches individuals of all ages how to create single color silkscreen posters. La Luchadora provides a platform to talk about community issues, values, and dreams.
