Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Library customers will be able to view two murals designed and created by local teens and appreciate the different techniques used in the works of art. The murals will brighten the teen area for years. The teens will work under the direction of Maria Ahrndt, Spring Lake Park High School art teacher. They will design and create works of art for public display, stretching their talents in new directions. The stipend will go to the Spring Lake Park High School art department.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Two murals were installed in the newly-created young adult area at the Northtown library. The murals were created by different students so customers are now exposed to different styles and techniques used in creating murals. Young adults visiting the area are intrigued by the works and the fact that teens created the murals. The murals allow teens to enjoy a visual representation of the teen voice. The Spring Lake Park High School Art department will put the stipend to good use in furthering art education with their students. Adults are drawn to the art work as well and are encouraged by the use of local artists to decorate our spaces.
