Project Overview
Listen to the sounds of the Roe Family Singers, a Good-Time, Old-Time Hillbilly band from the Mississippi-headwaters community of Kirkwood Hollow, MN. The band blends characteristic old-time sound with rock & roll urgency and influence. They were named the 2012 "World's Best" at the 30th annual Battle of the Jug Bands and were the 2011 recipients of the prestigious McKnight Foundation Fellowship for Performing Musicians.
Enjoy a presentation and book signing from award-winning Minnesota author and illustrator David LaRochelle. His stories and drawings captivate and delight children and adults alike.
Then, take a StoryWalk featuring David’s book Minnesota’s Hidden Alphabet.
Celebrate Earth Day by repurposing a 2-liter bottle and make your very own terrarium. We'll plant seeds and decorate the terrariums while learning about how things grow in Minnesota. All supplies will be provided. For kids ages 6-10.
Learn about fairy lore, fairy attracting flowers from Minnesota, and make a fairy trap out of natural and recycled materials.
For children in grades K-4.
