Inkslingers: Authors in the Libraries Part III
Increased knowledge of and interest in the writing and publishing process; increased exposure to a varitey of writers and writing styles; exposure to seasoned writers and writing techniques for interested beginning writers
We offered six writing classes and had 20 people at each with waiting lists for many of them. We had a writing group interest meeting after the classes and three writing groups formed after this. One of the writing teachers facilitated the first meeting. We developed a booklist of suggested books on writing available in the libraries that was distributed at each class and was available in the libraries. General comments from writing class participants was very positive. The five authors offered a good variety of mystery, travel, and general fiction writing and talked about their own writing process. Lots of questions from the audience. The audience was very positive about all the authors and often say how appreciative they are that they can see these authors in a local setting.
