Project Overview
DNA Day is a series of 8 talks about human genetics. The keynote speaker is artist Lynn Fellman who creates scientific artwork. “Using DNA portraits and family history, Lynn Fellman creates art that combines genetic data with creative imagery. Fellman will discuss basic genetic concepts, how art can uniquely express science concepts, and why many of us may find Neanderthal genetics in our DNA. Q & A session will follow.” Legacy funding will be used solely for Fellman's speaking fee.

39 patrons attended Fellman's talk and 71 patrons attended different DNA Day programs at HCL. Results of survey distributed at Fellman's talk: 83% of attendees learned more about human genetics. 86% learned more about how art and science can overlap. 37% planned to check out related library materials. 97% rated the quality of the program as good, very good or excellent. Selected comments, "This lecture provided a lot of information for me to think about and topics to explore on my own." "Lynn did a great job presenting and I was very impressed by her artwork, knowledge and enthusiasm."
