Bringing Local History to Life - Fall 2011
Library customers will learn more about various aspects of local and Minnesota history.
545 people attended eight programs, learning more about local and Minnesota history. Our St. Francis library is tiny, but we were able to provide a program about the history of St. Francis, by using a park facility in the area. Sixty-eight people attended and raved about getting to have a program about their history, in their own backyard. We knew the space in our Centennial Library would be insufficient to meet demand, but we were able to provide the "Civil War in Winter" program in Circle Pines, by working with the Circle Pines City Hall to "take over" their space on a Saturday. We produced flyers to promote these events, which are anxiously awaited and snatched up, so people can be sure not to miss these popular programs. As always, this partnership with our local Anoka County Historical Society was a success, which we plan to continue next year.
