MELSA libraries are honored to celebrate our state's best authors by raising awareness of the Minnesota Book Awards. A print publication will be distributed at MELSA libraries and through the Minnesota Women's Press that outlines the 2012 award nominees, author visits to local libraries and other events.

The public will become more award of Minnesota authors and the Minnesota Book Awards by seeing the magazine insert and attending an author program.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Minnesota Book Award finalists and past winners were featured at public programs at nine libraries from Stillwater to Savage and Anoka to South St. Paul. Programs included mystery author William Kent Krueger and Richard Thompson, children's authors Nancy Loewen. poet Joyce Sutphen, novelists Danielle Sosin and John Reimringer, and books about Minnesota culture and history by Brett Laidlaw, Lori Sturdevant and George S. Pillsbury.
