Project Overview
Launched by the Givens Foundation for African American Literature in fall 2010, Givens Black
Books is a community reading campaign with the goal of increasing access to and engagement in
the literary arts in the Twin Cities African American community. In 2013, Givens Black Books will feature the work of Jewell Parker Rhode. HCL will host five events with storyteller Nothando Zulu. Legacy funding allows HCL to become a partner on this project.
