Project Overview
Partner with tpt to create a 30 minute documentary highlighting special collections. Possible focus includes: the vibrant local history scene in Minnesota; the diverse population that utilizes historical collections; the multi-generational use of special collections, History Day Hullabaloo and Family History Day. Focus will be determined by HCL in collaboration with tpt. Accompanying genealogy research classes will be held in Fall 2012 & 2013.

Documentary will be broadcast on tpt to expose special collections on a statewide level.
Documentary will be added to collection. Documentary will highlight the diversity of library users.
Documentary will highlight patron experiences with special collections. Patrons will learn about tools
to assist them in researching family histories. Patrons will gain interest in researching their family
histories. Patrons will check out related library materials.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Documentary outcomes: Documentary aired on tpt in fall 2012 with additional airings through 2013. Documentary available for online viewing at any time. Available in dvd copy via library collection. Web videos on special collections dept, home history research, and WWII propaganada posters available online at any time. Outcomes for genealogy classes:99% learned about tools that will assist them in researching family histories.
96% gained interest in researching family histories.
79% have or plan to check out related library materials.
100% rated the quality of the program as good or better.
