Live at the Library 2012
Customers will come together at their local libraries to experience the arts in action, learning more
about art, other cultures, and local history while participating in some hands-on art projects and
experiencing live performances.
3,795 people experienced the arts in action during a four hour period on June 9, 2012 at all nine of our library locations. People learned about a wide variety of musical styles, experienced the Civil War in action, listened to stories from other cultures, learned more about their family history, experienced Narnia with a local theater group, and got to try their hand at all kinds of art mediums: pastel painting, birch bark ring making, acrylic painting, folded book sculptures, card making, clay projects, rock painting, leather working, watercolor painting, paper robots and more. Several customers and their families made a day of the event, travelling to as many libraries as possible to experience as much as possible. We were contacted by a local school district afterwards because they loved the variety we had offered and wanted to contact some of the participants for their own programming.
