Children will see how an illustrator gets inspiration and what his process is. It is hoped that children are encouraged to draw/paint/sketch even if they feel uncomfortable at first.
We saw the joy and excitement of both the children and adults as they participated in the reading of Moo! and the Dad book. Children were saying "Moo" and have a grand time. When he drew illustrations, children and parents answered questions and gave suggestions. Many participants asked if he had books to purchase and one child asked if he could read his book at the volleyball game. One child asked if he could read his book at church. We saw the joy of reading in action as families went home with books, as well as two autographed posters that were raffled. Anecdotal responses were gathered.
Redwood Area Early Childhood Initiative paid for food and drinks ($42.00), helped advertise and gave a free book to each child ($20.00).
