Author Talk: William Kent Krueger
Attendees will learn the writing process; regional, culture and geography; Writers' group will be inspired and encouraged by a Minnesota author's success; appreciation for reading Minnesota authors and exploring the Boundary Waters region; increased knowledge and interest in the native peoples of Minnesota.
We asked attendees to fill out an evaluation form. The following are excerpts from those forms concerning "one new thing": "Learned how to begin writing a memoir and what to include in a memoir." "Like to hear authors speak about their work." "Tips on using memories and objects with memories to write personal essays - your own memoir." "Inspiration to write!" "Anyone can write - you can write memoirs even if you don't ever publish them." "I learned how to target a specific theme for a group of essays that could become a memoir." "Why we keep certain items and don't part with them."
Tracy arranged and partnered with Redwood and Marshall for a group rate on author's fee. Branch libraries promoted the event to their patrons. The newspaper and radio provided in kind and reduced rate paid ads. Friends provided refreshments and promotion. SMSU helped promote to students and faculty.
