Children will become familiar with the traditional folktale and will learn how folktales originated as well as the importance of the play in oral traditions. Children will be introduced to a live performance - something that is not normally available in the community. This will give them a greater understanding of the performing arts and how important this type of art is to our society. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Climb Theatre's mission is to create and perform plays, classes and other creative works that inspire and propel people, especially young people, toward actions that benefit themselves, each other and their communities. The program had a great impact on those who attended, some experiencing live theater for the first time. The interaction with the players and message that they brought made for an extremely positive experience. By pairing with the elementary school and its summer lunch program, the library's role in the community and partnership with the school system was strengthened.
