Jack Pearson: Musician and Storyteller
The goal of this program was to present reading in a fun light by combining storytelling with music. We used the program to promote our children's summer reading program, "Read to the Rhythm." We hoped to build excitement about reading, music and summer reading program and that it would be a step in encouraging the children to become lifelong readers and learners.
Participant evaluation/surveys and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Several positive comments were received after the program. The daycare director expressed that she was appreciative to the library for holding the program there. The children who were in attendance were enthralled during the performance and especially enjoyed the unique instruments that Mr. Pearson played and the "lumberjack" toy that danced along to one of the songs. the children sang along and danced to some of the music. Some of the children who attended have since attended library programs and signed up for the summer reading program.
Tracy Kid's World provided space for the program.
Westbrook Public Library hosted Pearson later that day.
