Attendees will learn the history and all aspects of fishing in the Minnesota River. They will learn the present environmental status of the river and how to become better stewards of it. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
Participants responses overwhelmingly indicated that this program was very informative and highly entertaining. Many of them commented that they never realized the variety of aquatic life that is found in the Minnesota River. They were also surprised to learn that some native populations of fish and other species are making a return to the Minnesota river. Finally, they were surprised to learn about the commercial fishing industry on the river and how important it is to the economy of the region. As a result of Ron's programs and many other similar, participants surveyed now see the Ivanhoe Library as a place that works to promote the arts, history and culture of our state and would like to see more Legacy programming brought to the community.
