Project Overview
Jack Pearson is a children's performer who has been giving programs at libraries, schools and other venues since 1979. His program incorporated the summer reading theme, "Read to the Rhythm," and included a wide variety of instruments such as banjo, guitar, fiddle and spoon.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Children will gain knowledge of several musical instruments. Jack's storytelling will encourage visits to the library and the program will boost appreciation of the library and its educational and entertainment value.

Measurable Outcome(s)

During his performance, Jack used instruments that the children usually do not hear. He also told traditional folktales and stories and encouraged the children to spend time reading and using the library. Anecdotal responses were collected.

Source of Additional Funds

The Rock Youth Center provided space for the program ($50), The Ivanhoe Public Library partnered, the Tyler Summer Rec program provided supervision and promotion of the event.
