Children will become familiar with the traditional folktale and will learn how folktales originated as well as the importance of the play in oral traditions. Children will be introduced to a live performance - something that is not normally available in the community. This will give them a greater understanding of the performing arts and how important this type of art is to our society. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
The children gained a greater understanding folktales and how the morals that are portrayed in them are the foundations of society. The audience was allowed to interact with the performers during and after the performance, giving them a chance to be a part of the play. Everyone enjoyed the performance and were grateful that the library was able to bring the Climb Theatre to town - this type of activity helps community members see the library as an institution that will bring quality art and entertainment to them, making the library a valuable part of the community.
