Project Overview
Gallimaufry is an interactive children-focused program performed by Mankato musicians Ron Arsenault and Dave Pengra. Arsenault was an elementary school teacher for 30 years and Pengra worked for the Mankato Public Schools for 25 years. They have played with City Mouse and performed children's concerts for over 30 years. This fun and silly performance is sure to have parents and kids alike dancing and laughing. Both Ron and Dave have been inducted into the Minnesota rock and Country Hall of Fame and were nominated for the Minnesota Music Award.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Music helps us get in touch with, express and manage our emotions and enhances our ability to communicate even before we master language. Music is a valuable tool for relaxing, focusing, expressing yourself and communicating. Developmentally appropriate music activities involve the whole child, the child's desire for language, the body's urge to move, the brain's attention to patterns, the ear's lead in initiating communication, the voice's response to sounds, as well as the eye-hand coordination.

Participant evaluation/surveys and anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Great program! They include the kids in the songs and very interactive with the audience.

I think this is a great program for kids to learn and explore.

The summer reading program in Jackson is very good. We are lucky to be able to have performers like this.

I am so thankful that these programs are available in "smaller" towns. Thanks!

Sometimes you just have to be silly to let off some stress.

75% of the surveys returned indicated that they would not have been able to have this experience without the support of the library.
