Having popular authors visit southwestern Minnesota is something of a rare event so bringing in Mr. Krueger will fill a gap in local event planning and programming. The people in attendance will be able to hear how Mr. Krueger has found success as an author and how the writing process works for him. Furthermore, the program will provide insight into what it takes to make one's writing appeal to a broad audience. Participation evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Many people considered it an awesome experience to have a New York Times best selling author come and visit. One measureable outcome is an increase in library patrons who wanted to know more about his books and many of them checked out or put on hold Mr. Krueger's books. Another measureable outcome has been renewed interest in mystery writing. There have been several requests for a mystery writing workshop in the future. One audience member relayed that she wasn't expecting the presentation to be that good because she wasn't aware that such quality writers and presenters existed in Minnesota. She had never read Mr. Krueger's books but after the program she was going to pick up the first book in his series and read it.
