TeenLitCon
To inspire students to read and write and network with authors and other attending students. Since CEUs are available for teachers, this is a fantastic opportunity for educators to meet, learn and network with authors and other attending teachers. Participant evaluation/surveys and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Most of the teens reported being inspired to write by the attending authors and their discussions. Some also wrote about sessions such as What to Read Next. Although most had little time to speak directly with authors, the majority of them wrote about being excited for an opportunity to interact with them.
The adults who attended the Con had the opportunity to meet with both public and school librarians from various parts of the state.
The media personnel of the Marshall Public Schools middle and high school helped us promote the event to students and teachers, provided chaperones, and helped facilitate the hiring of the bus to transport attendees.
