Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Children will learn the African folktale, Anansi the Spider, and experieince professional theater. Chidren will have the opportunity to unleash their spontaneous creativity and leave with greater appreciation for performing arts.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The performers used a small globe to show the children where Minnesota and where West Africa, where the tale originated, were on the globe. After the performance they asked if anyone remembered this information. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses were collected.

Source of Additional Funds

Libraries cooperating with scheduling helped to lower the final cost; local newspaper provided extra free publicity along with the paid ad; The Rock donated the cost of the venue ($50); Tyler Summer Rec personnel promoted the event and helped with it.
