Murals - Greg Preslicka
Artist Greg Preslicka of The Big Picture, will paint two murals at the Fulda Memorial Library. The artist will work with library administration during the initial idea/layout stage. Once a layout is chosen he will fine-tune it with a pencil sketch. One mural will be in the children's section and the second in the entryway of the library. The artist will offer a presentation to local schools and a public gathering will be held where he will discuss the artistic process and how the inceptions are translated into the large murals. Student and library patrons will be able to observe while he paints and ask questions during the process. the library will solicit input from the public as to the final design selections when they are completed.

Library patrons and students from the schools involved will gain valuable knowledge from a professional artist on the creation of mural art. The artwork will provide an inviting setting for young patrons and hopefully encourage them to linger longer in the library. The murals are a permanent piece of art to be enjoyed for many years to come. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
The mural in the library entryway depicts the local train depot and the mural in the children's area is a happy parade of animals and books. Both include details that make you think of our community. During the four days that Greg was creating the murals we had many classes visit from the three schools in town, including two art classes from the high school. The students had a lot of interesting questions for Greg and he always took the time to chat with them. The community certainly appreciates the meaningful artwork that can be shared with future generations.
