Historical Notes - Mark Bridge
Mark Bridge is a historical music re-enactor whose presentation entitled, ?Historical Notes? covers Victorian music from the American minstrel and antebellum period through the Civil War and American Classic or parlor music periods. The repertoire covers a wide variety of musical selections and subjects from the 1800s with songs covering a range of composers including Stephen foster, Daniel Decatur Emmett, George root and many others. The music is performed on a variety of different banjos. This program covers not just music but the history behind the songs, composers and topics of interest about each period.

This program is multifaceted and those who attend will have the opportunity to learn about music from the 1800s and hear it played using historically accurate styles and instruments. The presenter will also encourage audience participation so it promises to be a highly educational and enjoyable program. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Participants learned the history of familiar songs and sang along to classic folk songs as well as learned new ones. Participants learned the history of minstrels in America and the history banjos as well.
