Project Overview
"Things That Go Bump in the Night" is a fully themed show featuring a colorful backdrop, special costumes, interactive theatre (with lots of audience participation), storytelling, comedy and magic aimed at helping kids discover the rewards found within the pages of a book. "Dark Tales" is interactive theatre at its best. Participants will experience strange phenomenon and then explore the relationship, a sometimes macabre one, the phenomena seems to share with the works of relevant authors.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Children attending will learn storytelling, magic tricks, interactive theatre, and of course be introduced to books where they will learn to explore extraordinary worlds and meet outrageous characters. Teens attending will be introduced to topical authors like Stephenie Meyer and PC Cast, as well as classical authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Bram Stoker who are featured throughout the show.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Children/teens/adults attending experienced magic tricks, how to be safe while trick or treating, and learned about some new book titles featuring the magic/Halloween theme. Some children learned how to talk/act in front of a large audience! Participants were treated to magic, storytelling, and comedy in these interactive shows. Anecdotal comments include 'This program was excellent, fun & interactive - will definitely take the kids again.'
