Participants will create a beautiful seasonal wreath they can use in their own home or give as a gift. Paper crafts have been created for thousands of years and have recently experienced a resurgence. This was, and is, an inexpensive way to decorate or share gifts.

Participants will: 1) learn how to create a holiday decoration using paper, glue, and other inexpensive materials 2) learn about the history of paper flower making and other paper craft creations throughout the world, 3) appreciate the beauty of this inexpensive art form, 4) search for additional materials on paper crafts and start a new hobby.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants: 1) created a holiday decoration (paper wreath) 2) learned new, and sometimes surprising, historical facts about paper flowers and their use in decorating for special occasions (weddings, funerals, proms etc.) 3) gained an appreciation for the beauty of this inexpensive art form, 4) received additional resources on paper crafts, including the symbolism of wreaths in various cultural and religious practices.
