Northwest Fur Company Post/War of 1812 Family Day
Bus trip to participate in Family Day hosted by the North West Fur Company Post in Pine City, Minnesota. Attendees will "step into a reconstructed fur post from the winter of 1804, meet a French voyageur, a British fur trade clerk and visit an Ojibway encampment." Also will 'help defend the business of the fur trade' during the war of 1812, join in musket drills, march in formation, and make a militia hat to show their support.

Participants will learn how voyageurs, Ojibwe, and British fur trade clerks lived in Minnesota in 1804. Will learn about military life, and explore the visitor center to learn about this time period in our history and the cultures of the people who lived at that time.
Participants enjoyed the guides in historical garb and character who lead tours throughout the site. Participants stated that they have a greater appreciation of the cultures, the structure of the cultures, the hard work needed to live in that time period.
