Author Candace Simar spoke about her research and writing process for her four-book Abercrombie Trail series. She discussed the Sioux Uprising and the lives of 19th century settlers in west central Minnesota.

Attendees will learn Minnesota history of the Abercrombie Trail, Pomme de Terre, and other historical facts of the area.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Candace explained the history of Minnesota and how it relates to this region of that state. She talked a lot about the Sioux Uprising and the impact on the Civil War. Attendees had read and enjoyed her books. Comments were made about how educational her talk was. A mention was made of the great link between history and family experiences that relates to most of us.

Source of Additional Funds

Fairway View Assisted Living and the City of Graceville provided the space to hold the visit by the author. KDIO Radio did a radio interview of Candace Simar and ran ads about the programs. The two libraries provided the posters of the event. Fairway View
