Minnesota author Joel Karsten will talk about his book and demonstrate the technique of straw bale gardening. Five (5) presentations were given in five libraries in the county. Gardening using straw bales is a new and innovative way of gardening that appeals to all ages.

Joel talked about his book 'Straw Bale Gardens' and demonstrate the technique of gardening using a straw bale. Those in attendance will learn how to plant a garden using a straw bale, the process and the benefits of using this new process on an age old tradition of gardening. People who attend will be able to take their knowledge from the workshop and apply it to their own gardening needs.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The audience really enjoyed learning about straw bale gardening. Several had questions for Joel after the presentation. Very positive participant evaluations from those in attendance. One participant stated "I like programs of this nature - practical, usable, interesting, and competent.'
