Strings Across the Ocean - Ross Sutter/Anders and Maria Larsson
Ross Sutter is joined by Anders and Maria Larsson in a lively collaboration that tells the story of a couple emigrating from Sweden to America. The show features a wide variety of musical instrument including string bass, accordion, limberjack, guitar, drum set, fiddle, nychelharpa, recorder and voice. This is a delightful musical and cultural experience for all ages.

Attendees will learn about a variety of musical instruments that they may never have seen before. They will learn to sing songs in Swedish as well as learn about the immigration of Swedish immigrants to southwest Minnesota. Participant evaluations will be collected.
The performers explained the history and use of the nychelharpa, the limberjack and the accordion. They audience was taught to sing a children's song in Swedish and were given rhythm instruments to play along with the song. In addition, they learned dance moves, various Swedish words and actions to the traditional songs that were performed. The performers acted out the story of how families immigrated to America and to the local area.
