One County Read - Allen Eskens
The Redwood County libraries, Lamberton, Morgan, Redwood Falls and Wabasso, will cooperate to present a county-wide read featuring the book, 'The Life We Bury' by Allen Eskens. Eskens will appear at each library to speak about his journey becoming a writer and how his fictional work was partially influenced by his real life work as a lawyer.

Individual attitudes and feelings may change about PTSD and Vietnam veterans. Participants will learn about the Vietnam War through the first hand account of a Vietnam veteran. Knowledge of the Vietnam War will be gained from viewing the actual artifacts of the Minnesota Military Vietnam Traveling Trunk display. Participant evaluations will be collected.
Everyone attending had read the author's book, 'The Life We Bury'. 4 of 15 people attending had read all four of Esken's books. 100% of attendees indicated they wanted the Redwood County libraries to continue the One Book One County programs. 35 copies of the book were distributed prior to the program. Twelve copies of the book were reserved to form a book club kit that will be available to all patrons of the library system.
