Attendees will learn about the writing process including aspects such as what inspires the author to write and hos the publishing industry works. They will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of a Minnesota author about his writing and it is hoped that there is interest generated in the month leading up to and following his visit and patrons will check out his books. Hosting Mr. Freeman in the Adrian and Worthington communities will be special occasions for library patrons and others. Opportunities to talk with and listen to a well known author are rare in rural Minnesota. Participant evaluation and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Brian Freeman's books were utilized more at both the Worthington and Adrian library locations before and after the program, thus usage of the library increased. The program was enjoyed by all the attendees and one Worthington patron commented that it is reassuring to hear from a renowned regional author that the writing process is challenging and not an easy one. This particular patron is an aspiring author and is in the midst of publishing her own book. She said the program gave her some insight and encouragement. At the Adrian location there was great attendance and many who normally do not attend library author events showed up and had an enjoyable evening. Attendance: Worthington - 13 Adrian - 52
