Acrylic Art - Mary Mcneely
Professional artist Mary Mcneely teachers four session on how to paint with acrylics. The first two sessions focus on painting a simple still life and the following two will allow participants to bring their own items to paint. Mcneely will work one on one with participants to answer questions, teach specific skills and allow them to practice the skills that they have been taught.

Participants will learn how to use acrylic paints and about the skills necessary to successfully paint a still life. They will gather as a group of artists, exchange ideas and learn from each other, allowing them to connect in different ways than they normally might. The community will see the library as a place that promotes the arts and encourages community members to explore their artistic talents with the help of a professional artist. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Participants learned how to blend colors, highlight, add shadows and other artistic techniques. The group showed a wide range of skill levels and knowledge and the participants exchanged ideas and encouraged each other in learning new painting skills. Participants left with a favorable view of the library and the role it plays in the community by encouraging the learning of new skills and ideas.
