Project Overview

Jerry Ostensoe grew up in the shadow of the gentle hills that grace the Minnesota and South Dakota border, just east of where the west begins. As a life-time resident of southwestern Minnesota he has sung about the prairie and its people for over 40 years in regional songs about trains, love, the wind and what's just over the hill.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The singer will share his love of blues, country and folk music as well as his love of trains. Hopefully those attending will learn to appreciate all of the various musical styles and to love trains and his stories that go along with the music. Anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Patrons learned about different types of music, working for the railroad and about the people in the areas that the performer has traveled. Patrons learned a bit about the history of trains and train travel and also about the process of writing songs.
