Patrons will learn about the Vietnam War and the effect it had on history and the veterans who participated in it. Patrons will also learn about this particular historical era from a veteran's point of view. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
Although some of the audience members were there because of their interest or experiences in the Vietnam War, many attended because they like Allen Esken's writing style, plot and life story. Audience members asked great questions and learned about how he writes as well as how he came to be a writer, get an agent and then published. They also learned why he can now leave the law profession and write on a full time basis. 75 copies of the book were distributed prior to the program. Twelve copies of the book were reserved to form a book club kit that will be available to all patrons of the library system.
