Create-a-Card Program for Adults - Joy Rohwer Foster
The Create-a-Card program is a hands on program in which adults can stop by the library to make their own seasonal card for Halloween. The presenter will be on hand to demonstrate the process and guide patrons as they make their own individual designs. This program offers the opportunity for creativity as well as a chance to try something new. Along with the program there will be a variety of library books available for patrons to check out on the art and process of making their own greeting cards. (A portion of this program paid with 2016 funds.)

Outcomes include encouraging people to look at the library as more than an archive of books. This is part of an ongoing concentrated effort to provide more programming activities in/through the library. We hope that by providing something new and not readily available in the area, we will reach out to more people. This is a step toward broadening our library services in new ways. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
The response of participants was extremely positive. For many it was their first attempt at creating art of this nature and the audience ages ranged from 25 to 87. People worked closely with the presenter and due to space limitations, the participants had to take turns in making their cards. Rather than being restrictive this actually worked out well because the participants helped each other, hung around the library and checked out books. Everyone who participated requested that the library hold another program for creating cards in the evening or on weekends.
