Community Read: How to Survive - Adam Wahlberg
Minnesota publisher & journalist Adam Wahlberg shares his journey into the written word from writer to publisher and highlights the books that he publishes with his niche publishing company, Think Piece Publishing. The library will purchase and distribute copies of the author's book, 'How to Survive'.

Individuals will learn about books from a different perspective other than the author's. Our hope is that our Community Read will build on our programming of 'Your Life, Your Story' and provide interested individuals with the next step from manuscript to the publishing house. Our main goal is to provide a shared community experience. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Throughout our Community Read month we hosted three separate book discussions prior to the author's presentation. Each of the discussions was met with personal stories, conversation and general sense of support. In all it was a great success on many levels. Our patrons were surprised and appreciative of the opportunity to read and share this book. Anecdotally we had about 60 readers of the book. Several teens read parts of the book and talked only with library staff about difficulties they were going through and we were then able to point them in the direction of other resources. The library provided 12 copies of the book to form a new book club kit that will be available to library patrons system wide.
