Participants will learn about Minnesota history, especially that of Scandinavian immigrants and gain more appreciation for their Minnesota heritage. The author will discuss writing techniques and encourage participants to explore their own roots. Some may be inspired to investigate and write their own family histories and/or want to visit sites of historical interest in Minnesota. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
Attendees learned about people and places in their own state that they hadn't heard of before and were excited about making plans to visit those areas. Unfortunately there was a large cultural event that same evening and that took away many of those who may have attended the lecture but the small group made for an intimate and lively round table discussion and question and answer time. Because of the funding for this event the library was able to complete its book club kit featuring her first title, 'Abercrombie Trail' which means that many more patrons will be able to learn about this part of Minnesota history.
