Minneapolis Guitar Quartet
The esteemed Minneapolis Guitar Quartet presents a concert performance followed by a Guitar Ensemble Crash Course for guitarists interested in improving their playing and ensemble work.

1.Teamwork, playing in an ensemble, musical knowledge and techniques. 2. An appreciation of the guitar as an ensemble instrument. 3. Inspiration to local musicians to perform in ensembles, introduction to audiences of new styles of music. 4. General appreciation for musical artistry , especially that of the guitar. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
From our concert survey: different techniques to make notes including pick, strum, knock; learned about guitar music; different tunings, different sides; old songs with contemporary sound; guitarists playing in ensembles is a rather recent thing; why using footstand and leg pad; exposure to Macedonian music. From the workshop survey: timing, social aspect of playing music together, ensemble skills, group work. the MGQ said this was their most successful Crash Course yet. There were 7 adults and 1 child plus 1 staff member who participation in the crash course and most said they'd like to get together again to play while the MGQ said they could provide some music for the group to work on.
