Minnesota author Candace Simar speaks about her love of Scandinavian heritage and of history. She shares the process that she uses to research her award winning books and have them published.

Participants, book club members and others, will hear from the actual author about the book and writing process while enjoying social time and discussion over a meal. Other adults and children will learn about history, about the author's Scandinavian history and the writing process. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
Participants enjoyed visiting with Candace and they learned about their life growing up and about her relative, who was a stagecoach driver during the time that the book was set. Once the book discussion began the tone was a bit more somber. The history of the white people taking over the Indian territories was discussed as well as the atrocities that both sides endured during that time. It was a very good discussion about history and heritage.
